Brief synopsis and review

One morning you awaken to a phone call from your husband saying that he wants to divorce you for the young blonde bimbo up and coming pop diva. You suddenly realise that you are a "starter wife" and your circle of friends is about to leave you behind and you have to start again. Bummer!

The miniseries seemed a little boring in parts and you could tell that the Australian actors had bad American accents. Debra Messing was the only reason to watch. There were a few cameo appearances by Australian celebrities such as 70s actor and singer and former Australian Idol judge Mark Holden.

Premiere dates

The first series of The Starter Wife was partly filmed on the Gold Coast ^[1], just outside Brisbane in Australia. Series one was really a six hour miniseries and it premiered on May 31, 2007, on the USA Network and December 5, 2007 on Ten in Australia. The premiere episode attracted 5.4 million viewers for the USA Network and for Network Ten in Australia it attracted 1.012m viewers (considered almost good) with a 54.5% share of commercial television in the 18-49 demographic (out of a population of 21 million).

Series two is scheduled for an October 2008 return with at least ten episodes being filmed between July and September. Krista Allen has a recurring role as "Eve".

Series two: first two episodes

The first two episodes aired on October 10th, 2008. Krista Allen had several scenes in each episode (the gallery has photos of her as "Eve"). The double episode feature attracted 2.64 million viewers.

Did you know?

The naked blonde (a search engine query bringing people here) in episode two is Kristyn Green, who played "Tiffany".
